ABOUT ME
I am a 1982 graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School and hold a Bachelor's degree in Business with a minor in Biology from Murray State University, obtained in 1987. Since 1992, I've served as the President, Owner, and Operator of David Guess Heating and Air. In 2018, I became the President and Co-owner of Hipp Property Group, Inc. I own several properties in Paducah, predominantly in the Historic Lowertown area. My civic service includes two terms as a Paducah City Commissioner in 2002 and 2006, with re-elections in 2020 and 2022. My wife, Sandra Guess, is a Physician Assistant. Our son, Josh, serves in the Paducah Fire Department and is married to Lindsey. Our daughter, Shannon, a pharmacist in Bowling Green, KY, is married to Daniel, and they are blessed with two wonderful children. My life is deeply rooted in my Christian faith; I am a member of the First Baptist Church and attend services at Heartland.
Growth for Paducah
Serving as City Commissioner in 2002, 2004, 2020, and 2022, I have consistently prioritized fiscal responsibility and growth for Paducah.
- The Carson Center Project
- Rejuvenation of Lowertown, Downtown, Midtown, and the Riverfront areas
- 911 system upgraded
- Creation of the Greenway Trail
- Served on the Brooks Stadium Board
- Served on the Paducah Water Board
- Currently serving on the JSA Board.
- Progression on the current Stormwater Plan. To reduce the frequency of flooding, we spent more money in the last few years above the normal budgeted amount to advance that plan.
- Southside clean up and successful Rise & Shine Program
- Successfully supported a purchase of the southside eyesore hotel to locally owned VinWinTech
- Sports Complex, 40 million joint economic development investment with the county
- 911 system upgrades, vital for our safety, also a joint investment with the county
- New Airport was constructed.
- Dunlap Housing Project
- The Parks Dept and Senior Citizens Center has a new building coming.
- Cherry Civic center Renovated
